A beam signing ceremony took place October 29th at the site of the new Prosper ISD Elementary School in Mustang Lakes. The school’s namesake Sam Johnson was in attendance along with his family, officials from the Prosper ISD, school contractor Pogue Construction and representatives of the Mustang Lakes community.
Sam Johnson is a well-respected and prominent Texan who served in the Texas House of Representatives then the U.S. Congress from 1985-2019. He graduated from Southern Methodist University and was a Colonel and decorated pilot for the U.S. Air Force during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He dedicated his professional career to making both Texas and America a better place to live and work, and Prosper ISD and Mustang Lakes are proud to have his name on this new school, which will open in the Fall of 2020.
Located on Frontier Pkwy/FM 1461 – just three miles north of Hwy 380 in McKinney and two miles east of Preston Road in Prosper, Mustang Lakes features homes from the $300s-$1.5 million+. Voted Master-Planned Community of the Year and Best Community Amenity by the Dallas Builders Association and National Association of Home Builders, respectively, Mustang Lakes is excited to have this new onsite elementary to serve the growing families who live here.
The architecture of the new school will incorporate aspects of the adjacent Club at Mustang Lakes and has a capacity of 700-750 students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. All the same award-winning programs found at other Prosper ISD elementary schools will be found at Sam Johnson Elementary School – destined to be a stellar facility like all the other grade ‘A’ schools in this fastest growing school district in Texas.
All students who live in Mustang Lakes can easily walk or bike to this new school as the master plan was carefully designed with abundant trails and sidewalks to make getting to school an easy and pleasant experience.
