All About McKinney Oktoberfest

Posted In: Events

The 15th annual Downtown McKinney Oktoberfest kicks off this weekend! When you live in Mustang Lakes, you’re just 20 minutes from all of the fun in Downtown McKinney and also moments from festivals happening in Prosper and Celina this autumn.

Learn more about McKinney’s beloved Oktoberfest festival and what’s new this year.

McKinney Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest celebrates all things German, including authentic German food, music and costumes in Downtown McKinney from Friday, Sept. 23-Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022. The festival kicks off with a brand-new happy hour from 2-4:30 p.m. on Friday followed by the festival from 5-11 p.m. The event continues 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Saturday and Noon-5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free!

For the first time this year, McKinney Oktoberfest will be ticketless to save time with fewer lines. Instead of purchasing concession tickets, attendees can now pay all vendors with credit cards or digital pay options including Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay. You can view concession pricing on the event’s official website.

Biers of Oktoberfest

It’s not Oktoberfest without traditional German bier. McKinney Oktoberfest features authentic German bier such as Hofbräu original, Hofbräu Amber Marzen and Hofbräu Dunkel, as well as McKinney’s own Tupps Brewery.

Tupps will serve up their Hefeweizen traditional Bavarian Wheat style beer, McKinney Oktoberfest beer inspired by classic Munich Oktoberfest beers and Tupps National Standard, a light American ale.

Official McKinney Oktoberfest MassKrug (liter stein) will be available for purchase at the beverage booths for just $7.

Foods of Oktoberfest

Indulge in a feast fit for a king, including brats, sausages, schnitzel, strudel, funnel cakes, roasted almonds, pretzels and much more. Fifteen vendors are ready to serve you!

Event Activities

McKinney Oktoberfest features live music and performances, a kid zone and carnival, arts & crafts, and contests including Bier Stein races, human beer puppets and weenie dog races. The event also features a Marktplaz with dozens of local vendors selling festival gifts, crafts, art, clothing and more.

Parking

Admission and parking are both free, but spots may be limited due to the popularity of the event. Check out McKinney’s Downtown Parking page and download the parking map or park and ride at the round-trip shuttle services operating from First McKinney Baptist Church at 1615 E. Louisiana.
