Celina Breaks Ground on Wilson Creek Park Just Minutes from Mustang Lakes
Big things are on the horizon for Celina! On September 3, the city officially broke ground on Wilson Creek Park, a 100-acre project designed to be a hub for play, connection, and community. Located at the intersection of Roseland Parkway and Sunset Boulevard, this exciting new destination will be just a 12-minute drive north of Mustang Lakes.
A Park Built for the Community
Wilson Creek Park is more than just open space, it’s a vision shaped by the voices of Celina residents. Through community meetings and a survey that gathered input from more than 1,000 people, the city crafted a master plan that reflects what neighbors truly want and need. The result is a design that balances sports, recreation, and natural beauty.
The first phase of the project is already underway and is projected to open in fall 2026. Early work includes site preparation and clearing, with exciting amenities on the way.
What to Expect at Wilson Creek Park
When complete, Wilson Creek Park will feature a wide variety of amenities for all ages and interests, including lighted diamond fields and multi-use fields, lighted pickleball courts, a nine-hole disc golf course, playgrounds and open green space, concrete and soft surface trails, a scenic pond to enjoy the outdoors, and a pavilion, restrooms, and concessions for convenience during events and gatherings.
This thoughtful mix of features ensures Wilson Creek Park will become a go-to destination for recreation, relaxation, and community events.
A New Chapter for Celina Living
City leaders have emphasized that Wilson Creek Park is more than just fields and trails, it’s a long-term investment in Celina’s quality of life. As Mayor and city officials noted during the groundbreaking, the park represents an important step in building connections and creating shared spaces where neighbors can thrive together.
For Mustang Lakes homeowners, this new city amenity will be just minutes away, adding to the already vibrant lifestyle offered by the community. With award-winning amenities on-site and a regional destination park on the way, life in Mustang Lakes places you at the heart of DFW growth and opportunity.
The countdown is on! By fall 2026, Wilson Creek Park will be welcoming families, athletes, and neighbors to experience everything it has to offer. And for those who call Mustang Lakes home, it’s all right in your backyard.
