Celina’s First Major Hospital On Track for Spring Opening
Celina’s first major hospital is on track to open next spring, according to status updates shared during a Special Celina City Council meeting on June 25. Cody Hunter, president of Methodist Celina Medical Center, provided construction and timeline updates, announcing crews “met and exceeded” two infrastructure milestones with a projected opening date of March 2025.
The 200,000-square-foot hospital is underway at the southeast corner of the Dallas North Tollway and FM 428. Methodist Celina will include 30 medical-surgical beds, 8 ICU beds, 12 emergency department beds, 3 operating rooms – including a daVinci surgical robot and shell space for an additional operating room – a cardiac catheterization lab and 2 procedure rooms, 4 labor and delivery rooms, 2 C-section rooms, and 10 postpartum suites.
The new Celina hospital is anticipated to have more than 200 employees and will also provide cardiovascular and cancer care, women’s services, orthopedics and robotic surgery.
During the city council meeting, Hunter said the emergency room is anticipated to open in March with labor and delivery services opening later in the summer pending the Medicaid certification process. Staff hiring is expected to begin in January.
Methodist Celina opened its first family health clinic, Methodist Family Heath Center – Prosper, this past March. Located at 1590 W. Frontier Parkway Suite 100 Prosper, TX 75078, Dr. William Dodge’s family practice provides convenient, quality care for the entire family from infants to adults and the elderly. The facility has 2,600 square feet and six exam rooms.
The second practice, Methodist Family Health Center – Celina, operated by Dr. Annie Nguyen, opened on Wednesday, June 26. In addition to wellness check-ups, Dr. Nguyen has special interests in women’s health, preventative medicine, and management of chronic conditions such as high cholesterol and diabetes.
