H-E-B Coming Just 15 Minutes from Mustang Lakes

One of DFW’s long-awaited H-E-B stores is moving into McKinney – situated less than 15 minutes away from Mustang Lakes at the northeast corner of Custer Road and Eldorado Parkway.

The popular Texas-based grocery chain broke ground on the new store on March 3. According to a press release, the 118,000-square-foot store will feature a large zone dedicated to curbside pickup at the back of the store, a fuel station, a car wash, a pharmacy drive-thru and True Texas BBQ, H-E-B’s lauded barbecue restaurant that was named best barbecue chain in Texas by Texas Monthly and top barbecue chain in the nation by Thrillist.

The McKinney location, which is expected to open in spring 2023, will follow the opening of DFW’s first H-E-B stores in Frisco and Plano in the fall of 2022.

Founded in 1905, H-E-B began as a small family grocery store in the Hill Country town of Kerrville, Texas. Today, H-E-B is one of the nation’s largest independently-owned food retailers dedicated to exceptional customer service, low prices and top-quality products.

H-E-B is also the largest privately held employer in Texas with more than 420 stores and 137,000 partners in Texas and Mexico.

The chain has a huge cult following among Central Texans and was ranked No. 1 U.S. grocery retailer in a 2020 consumer survey of more than 60 grocery retailers.
