How to Help Celina Tornado Victims
Following the EF3 tornado that caused severe damage to homes and properties in northern Collin County on May 25, many Celina residents are reaching out to help their fellow neighbors. There are numerous ways you can volunteer your time or donate items or funds to assist those impacted by the storms.
Volunteer
The City of Celina has set up an online form to direct interested volunteers on ways they can help, including construction/repair, donation sorting or management, and meals. Currently, the City is directing volunteers or donors to the Minuteman Disaster Response and Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief groups. These two organizations have been dedicated to helping those in need through many tragedies.

Donations and Supplies
The City of Celina is directing supply donations to the Celina drop site located at Grace Bridge (402 S. Oklahoma St). Recommendations include water, Gatorade, trash bags, gloves, and cleaning supplies. For additional donations, please contact Grace Bridge at 214-425-9423.
“The community has been great in supporting the relief effort, as it relates to cleaning up debris or helping homeowners go through and find their personal belongings, as well as coordinating different efforts to cut down trees, help haul away any type of debris at all, and then just donations, there has been an outpouring of donations,” Celina Mayor Ryan Tubbs told the Celina Record. “Grace Bridge has really helped us partner in accepting those donations and well as distributing them to the families themselves. The community has really rallied around this tragic event that really has brought people together to just help their neighbors that are in need.”
Clean Up Efforts
Along with these efforts, the City has set up a Storm Sweep for individuals who prefer to drop off their debris rather than wait for bulk pick-up through Waste Connections. The Storm Sweep will occur on Thursday, May 30, Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Public Works Building located at 10165 County Road 106. People will be able to pull into the facility and remove any debris they have in one of the dumpsters located on site. The Storm Sweep will be limited to the dumpster capacity, and the City will operate daily until the dumpsters are full.
If you prefer a bulk pick-up, residents will need to schedule this either online or by contacting the Customer Service Team directly at (844) 708-7274. Make sure to indicate the pickup is for storm debris so that it does not count toward the regular monthly bulk trash pick-ups.
