Report: Dallas Among Top 10 U.S. Cities for People on the Move
Dallas is among the top 10 U.S. cities for people who moved in 2023. According to U-Haul’s Top Growth Cities Report, Dallas was the No. 9 most popular city for newcomers.
U-Haul calculated growth cities by each city’s net gain (or loss) of one-way equipment from customer transactions in a calendar year. The U-Haul Growth Index is compiled from more than 2.5 million one-way U-Haul truck, trailer and U-Box® moving container transactions that occur annually across the U.S. and Canada.
While U-Haul’s numbers don’t directly correlate to population or economic growth, the report provides fascinating insight into the top U.S. cities and which states are welcoming the most newcomers. Texas ranked No. 1 in U-Haul’s Top Growth States Report for 2023, the third consecutive year that the Lone Star State has held this distinction.
In a press release, Cory Hall, U-Haul’s Area District Vice President for Southern Texas, attributed the state’s growth to major tech players like Oracle, Tesla, Google, and Apple, which are attracting a substantial workforce. Hall emphasized the allure of Texas with its lower cost of living and favorable tax environment for these companies, making it a significant investment.
