Report: Texas Among Best States to Retire
The kids have left the nest and it’s finally time to start planning for the next phase of life: Retirement. You many now finally have time to travel, start a new hobby and meet new friends – all while leaving behind home maintenance and the space you may no longer need in your current home.
If you’re ready for change and to make a big move, a new study finds Texas among the best states to retire. The new report by Bankrate ranks all 50 states from the worst to best states for retirement in 2022.
Bankrate determined the order based on five categories: affordability, wellness, culture, weather and crime. Affordability was the biggest factor in the rankings due to inflation and home price increases following the pandemic.
Texas ranked No. 7 with affordability and weather among the top reasons why the Lone Star State is a great place for retirees to settle down.
Dallas-Fort Worth is a huge magnet for relocating retirees. Top-tier health care providers include Baylor University Medical Center and the UT Southwestern Medical Center. DFW also showcases fabulous entertainment venues including the AT&T Performing Arts Center, Dallas Museum of Art, AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, and The Star in Frisco. Residents have convenient access to two major airports: Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field.
