What’s New in Celina TX?
Celina TX is one of DFW’s most desirable cities–the population has tripled over the past four years! All this growth has attracted exciting new businesses and new designations for our beloved Roller Town. Today on the Mustang Lakes blog, we’re breaking down some new developments that have taken place recently in Celina.
New Education Opportunities
We are thrilled to have new higher education opportunities located near Mustang Lakes. Collin College’s Celina campus opened this fall, offering courses in coveted career tracks such as business management, construction management, health sciences and information technology.
Collin College Celina students can also take general education classes such as art, biology, English, economics, math, science, history and much more, and continuing education classes including ESL, computer classes and small business classes.
New Businesses and Park Expansion
Downtown Celina recently welcomed some much anticipated new businesses: Summer Moon Coffee, Valley Vines wine tasting room and ANNIE JACK boutique. Celina will also soon get its first hospital, which is planned for a 13-acre site at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Punk Carter Parkway.
Over the summer, the city completed the expansion of Old Celina Park. The expansion includes four new synthetic turf baseball/softball fields, expanded grass multisport playing fields, a new concessions area, expanded walking trails and nearly 400 new parking spaces.
New Designations
We’re anxiously counting down the days to Celina’s Beware! of the Square festival, which will be even more special this year thanks to a new proclamation. Celina has been named the “Halloween Capital of North Texas” by Collin County Judge Chris Hill.
“Transforming their historic downtown square into a Halloween showcase, the City of Celina has created one of the greatest annual Fall celebrations in the region,” Hill said in a statement. “I commend the City staff and the Celina community for making this a fantastic and safe event for families from throughout North Texas, and I was honored to name Celina the Halloween Capital of North Texas.”
Beware! of the Square takes place this year on Saturday, Oct. 23, and features Halloween-themed fun for the whole family. Activities include trick-or-treating, inflatables, rides, haunted attractions and more.
The Celina Parks & Recreation Department was also recently awarded the “Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider” designation for 2021-2022. This national accreditation means the department is recognized for its commitment to quality and safety in youth sports!
The Parks & Recreation Department currently offers six youth sports programs: 7-on-7 football, flag football, baseball, softball, basketball and soccer.
At Mustang Lakes, we love calling Celina home. There’s so much happening in this burgeoning DFW suburb, from fun festivals and wonderful businesses to beautiful parks and the vibrant community spirit.
